It’s A Big Bright Beautiful World

I adore my new career. During the pandemic, I unfortunately lost my passion, career, and love of life. I am so grateful to have found a new profession, and one that feeds me soul to boot. If I were to lay out my life, I would love to keep traveling, as that gives me more insight to different cultures and backgrounds of students. My travels have also let me teach my students super interesting facts in the middle of lessons which in turn have led to wonderful discussions about empathy. I hope to obtain a job as a Middle School ELA teacher and take over (or build from the ground up) the theatre program at that school or neighboring high school. Eventually, I see myself attempting to gain my PHD in Incorporating the Arts and Culture in the Classroom. I am a HUGE proponent of bringing rich music, theatre, art, photography, and culture into the classroom. I would love to head research in that subject, and truly see what the effects can be on children in a classroom that daily uses art. I believe that the arts should be accessible for any student who wishes to dabble in and experience. Unfortunately, the arts are one of the first non-core subjects to be slashed from school budgets. Therefore, I would love to be a speaker and travel around to different schools putting on workshops and demonstrating to teachers how they can incorporate the arts into their classroom (and have them match up and fortify the standards required to be taught). After I retire, I would love to become an advisor for Student Teachers and inspire the next generation of great teachers!

To ensure that I keep on growing snd learning as a teacher, I will utilize the free workshops the Teachers College puts on every year. I will attend Professional Development Days of my district happily. I will also keep in mind my CPAST Goals from my Mid-Term and End of Year Reports. The sections that I wish to focus on is the incorporation of assessment jargon and questions during future instruction. I want to ensure my students are fully prepared and ready for their future in academia and life.

DROPLET IN THE SKY

Even though I gave up my career of performing, it is my dream to publish a sing-a-long children’s book. I recorded a singing book as a child (by Teddy Richardson), and ever since it has ben a goal of mine to publish my own. Here is my project from my class Digital Learning, highlighting the standard of The Water Cycle. All of the characters are based off of the best female country singers. Dolly the Droplet is Dolly Parton, Carrie the Cloud is Carrie Underwood, Patsy Peak is Patsy Cline, Reba River is Reba McEntire, and Susan Sun is Susan Tedeschi. When I sang these roles, I attempted to pick up their different intonation and timbres.
